Standardisation is usually described as a meeting where learning and development practitioners share good practice. This activity might include comparing assessment decisions.

Facilitating standardisation is one of the main function of internal quality assurance. You need to ensure your staff are working at the same standard to ensure fairness and consistency throughout your centre. The worst thing you could have is an assessor under assessing and another over assessing which could trigger complaints.

These standardisation meeting should be treated as an opportunity to network and to learn from one another. Here you could share any new practice and provide feedback from any sources such as previous external quality assurance visits. Standardisation meetings could also be a platform to discuss about other issues such as learner behaviour, procedures and support networks.
